FAQ

Scrum is a popular framework for generating value through adaptive solutions, such as products and services, for complex problems. Scrum is considered both an agile and lean method. Scrum employs an empirical process control based on inspection, adaptation, and transparency principles. The framework prescribes accountabilities of the Product Owner, the Developers, and the Scrum Master; three artefacts of the Product Backlog, the Sprint Backlog, and the Increment; and five Scrum Events: Sprint, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. On top of them, the framework introduces some extra rules to help the Scrum Team work together.

Kanban is a popular method and approach for managing all kinds of professional services. Kanban is considered an agile and lean method, and it has roots in the kanban technique originally developed for manufacturing operations. The Kanban method helps teams and organisations relieve overburdening and gain control over the work. At scale, Kanban is an effective tool for organisational development. The method prescribes values, change principles, service delivery principles, and general practices, but they do not limit it. Organisations can achieve different Kanban maturity levels by implementing various additional practices or tools.

Kanban and Scrum are two popular agile and lean methods. Both Kanban and Scrum can be used to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of a project team and deliver quality results. However, there are some key differences between the two approaches. Kanban is a continuous flow system that emphasises Kanban boards to visualise work progress and identify bottlenecks. Scrum, on the other hand, is an iterative and incremental process that uses sprints to break down work into manageable chunks. Both methods are applicable for product or service delivery. However, Kanban is typically service-oriented, while the natural lens for Scrum is delivering value through product development.

Objectives and Key Results (OKR) is a goal-setting system used by many companies worldwide to achieve alignment and engagement within the organisation. A goal in OKR is represented by a qualitative objective and a few measurements (key results) helping to track the progress towards the goal and agree on actionable initiatives. Contrary to traditional KPIs, OKRs are not cascaded in the company hierarchy but aligned top-down, bottom-up, and sideways within the organisation.
