We are delighted to announce that our latest case study, created in collaboration with rhi, has been officially published in the December edition of World Pipelines magazine — one of the industry's leading publications dedicated to global pipeline engineering, operations and innovation.
The feature article, titled “From Desktop to Cloud”, explores the digital transformation of rhiCOMS, rhi’s long-standing unit rate contracting system used across major energy and pipeline projects worldwide. Originally built over 20 years ago, the tool played a crucial role in budgeting, scheduling and evaluating contractor bids — but its desktop-based architecture no longer matched the pace and complexity of today’s infrastructure landscape.
Together with rhi, Meirik guided the transition toward a modern, cloud-based solution, supported by the Scrum framework and transparent, value-driven collaboration.
The article sheds light on:
- the business challenges behind the transformation,
- the complexity of modernising a legacy system relied on by global teams,
- the shift from manual data handling to automated, real-time insights,
- the role of iterative development in aligning technology with business needs.
What makes this story particularly compelling is the intersection of traditional energy operations with modern agile delivery — a combination that is not always straightforward, yet increasingly necessary.
And while we won’t spoil the full narrative here, the case study reveals how rhi significantly improved efficiency, strengthened decision-making processes and laid the foundation for future innovation.
